Governors

Gary Handforth is Chair of Governors at Camberwell Park Specialist Support School. He has worked in education for over 30 years, including as a teacher, headteacher, executive headteacher and Director of Education for a multi-academy trust. Gary now works independently with schools and local authorities, specialising in school improvement, leadership coaching, SEND and quality assurance. He has a particular interest in inclusive education and in ensuring that children and young people with additional needs experience ambitious, high-quality education that enables them to belong, participate and thrive. As Chair, Gary works closely with governors and school leaders to provide both support and constructive challenge, with a strong focus on pupils’ outcomes, wellbeing and safeguarding. 

Angela Westington is an independent education consultant. Angela has extensive experience of school improvement, development and inspection across the age-ranges 3-16 years, including early years settings, maintained and independent schools, secondary schools, schools causing concern, pupil referral units and integrated residential provision. 

For seventeen years, Angela was one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors (HMI) of schools; five of those as a Senior HMI leading and managing two teams of inspectors, Schools and Early Years HMI/Regulatory Inspectors. Prior to that, she was an Assistant Divisional Manager and Managing Inspector in the south of England and also worked in the Policy Team in London on two iterations of the section 5 inspection handbook.  

Angela has worked alongside school and system leaders, local authority officers, locally elected members, MATs, MPs, DfE officials, dioceses, MOD and others to pursue educational excellence.  

Since leaving Ofsted, Angela has supported and challenged the full range of schools in my capacity as a consultant and QA Professional. 

Lucy Quarm is an experienced NHS nurse with over 13 years of experience across clinical practice, leadership, clinical governance, quality improvement, patient safety and patient experience. Throughout her career, Lucy has developed a strong understanding of leadership, accountability, continuous improvement and the importance of putting people at the heart of decision-making. Outside of work, Lucy is a wife and a proud mother of three. As a school governor, Lucy brings both her professional experience and personal perspective as a parent, to support the school’s leadership, promote high standards and help ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.

Rachael is an ACA qualified accountant and is the COO/CFO for Prospere Learning Trust. Rachael has over 14 years’ experience in education finance and operations.
